It could be safely used forever as long as your PC boots it up but if no bugs are going to be fixed I regard that as no support. Repairing security issues is a minor detail to most people, I will keep using it though as I believe w8 is pants and I don't want a touch-screen monitor. Let's see what W10 is like.

Would you want one of these? I'm sure I wouldn't.

Not in front of the telly: Warning over 'listening' TV

Samsung is warning customers to avoid discussing personal information in front of their smart television set.

The warning applies to TV viewers who control their Samsung Smart TV using its voice activation feature.

Such TV sets 'listen' to every conversation held in front of them and may share any details they hear with Samsung or third parties, it said.

Privacy campaigners said the technology smacked of the telescreens, in George Orwell's 1984, which spied on citizens.

Wouldn't worry me as I very seldom discuss things relating to National Security in front of the TV.

Anyone listening to our conversations is likely to be very bored, very quickly.

And yes, I do have one of these TV's.
I before E except after C - That's weird

Google's Vint Cerf warns of 'digital Dark Age'

Vint Cerf, a "father of the internet", says he is worried that all the images and documents we have been saving on computers will eventually be lost.

Currently a Google vice-president, he believes this could occur as hardware and software become obsolete.

He fears that future generations will have little or no record of the 21st Century as we enter what he describes as a "digital Dark Age".

5G researchers manage record connection speed

Record-breaking speeds have been achieved during tests of 5G data connections, scientists have said.
Researchers at the University of Surrey's 5G Innovation Centre (5GIC) managed one terabit per second (Tbps) - many thousands of times faster than current data connections.
The head of the 5GIC said he hoped to demonstrate the technology to the public in 2018.
Ofcom has said 5G could be available in Britain by 2020.
At 1Tbps, it would be theoretically possible to download a file 100 times the size of a feature film in about three seconds. The speed is more than 65,000 times faster than average 4G download speeds.

Now is that fast,or what? :geek:

Mmm,,, So OK I would not want to appear a PLONKER but if that is a single (short distance transmit) what happens when MULTIPLE and long distance (Tx to Rx) as we all probably know the fastest object is limited by the slowest obstacle in its way.
So yes 5G will be fast but lets not kid ourselves that these WILL be the speeds that will be, as the system is loaded up with users then it slows down. Isnt that what happens and did when the data first started to be Tx'ed over the GSM system, it was fine but soon got clogged up and slow so it went to GPRS then to 3G and then to the now 4G ( if your good you can use the satC systems but that can be a little costly)
I am Ok with the data transfer I get from my dongle though I do use satC and dual band sat coms at times while at work to speed things up when the crews are all facebooking or twitering or whatever they get up to when I'm not watching them.
I do hope that I can retire (again) by the time this new system comes into use so I'll not have to worry too much about upgrades for phones :o
The challenge is not to manage time, but to manage ourselves.

Panda antivirus software labels itself as malware

An antivirus program labelled itself as malware, causing some computers it was running on to stop working.

After an update, essential components in two Panda Security antivirus programs became corrupted, leading them to be mistakenly identified as malign and quarantined.

Panda said a fix had been released and warned that rebooting affected systems could exacerbate the issue.

No experience of iPad FC but assuming it works on the same basis as the iPhone look in the settings menu under Safari then Passwords & Autofill and see if Names and Passwords is turned on. That may be your problem.

In that case FC, I don't know what it could be. I think Trigger has an iPad so maybe he can advise.

FC, I don't know if you can have 'Private Browsing' switched on permanently but if you can that could possibly be the problem.

Added and further edited later: I think this may well be the answer to your problem FC:-

As I rarely use the iPhone these days for internet browsing I noticed that mine wouldn't autofill. I have just been playing around with it and I notice that when you touch the box where you enter your username to log in on a site and the 'on-screen keypad' opens, there is a line above the keypad that says 'Autofill password' and if you touch that, it then fills in the username and password. Note that the 'Autofill password' ONLY appears if you have previously entered and saved your log-in details on an earlier occasion for the site you are on. You can see which ones are saved by going into the 'Settings' then 'Safari' then 'Passwords and Autofill' then 'Saved Passwords'. By clicking on the arrow on the right of each of the listed web sites you can then see the actual log-in details saved. I assume it will be similar on the iPad.

I would seem that it doesn't fill in the details unless you actually tell it to. This may well be in case you wish to log in with another user name other than the one saved. I don't think this has always been the case with the iPhone so maybe it is something new that was added on one of the OS updates.
