Alert about car key hacking/cloning - Carlton Colville.
In the early hours (around 2-45am) on Friday morning 2nd August, a friend of ours who lives in the vicinity of Long Meadow Walk/Ashburnham Way, was alerted by their dogs and on looking through the window noticed two males on a small motorcycle next to their car. The car lights were on and the passenger door was open. When they went outside to approach them they rode off.
It would seem that as there was no damage to the vehicle, entry was obtained by key hacking/cloning.
The police have been informed about this incident.
You can protect your 'keyless' entry keys by either wrapping them in aluminium foil when not in use or by keeping them in a tin, and as far away as possible from the vehicle itself.
