We had one of these at the kitchen I worked in eons ago. Problem was (a) amount of water used and wasted, and (b) the peelers inside often took off more of the potato than was left behind! Still, was easier than peeling hundreds at a time.

I have had one of those for several years, kerch but of course it's only suitable for the kitchen floor where there isn't a carpet. For the carpet I have a small lightweight rechargeable sweeper which is handy for the carpets when I don't really need to get the vacuum out. The only problem is, it won't pick up the feathers that the budgerigars moult - it even tends to blow them further away.

I was going to ask 'Don't you find all the tiles cold?' then I remembered you are in the South of France. Probably a blessing in the summer as well. :D

The tiles can be a bit cold in winter, pair of thick slippers solves that problem and well placed rugs ,in front of settee and beside the bed .

And a blessing in the summer. I used to like putting my feet on the cold floors in the hotels when in hot climes.

You could try taking the vacuum cleaner to the source of the problem BB, remember to keep good hold of their feet though.

Well I do use the vacuum cleaner when there are lots of them but certainly not on the birds themselves. If there are only half a dozen or so of the very small feathers I just pick them up.

You reminded me there Kerch of when I was a child and we had lino on all the floors upstairs, no heating at all and during winter you made sure your socks or slippers were on before venturing from your bedroom, or you had to leap from rug to rug to miss the icy flooring :)

My wife is a big fan of hot water bottles, hers are in action for at least 10 months of the year!! I sleep 'au-naturel' all year round whilst in bed she is multi-layered all during the winter months and maybe just a couple of layers during the summer :) She may make an exception on my birthday or at Christmas  champagne1 dancer1
