Sorry kerch I wasn't thinking straight this morning as I had something serious on my mind from first thing - like the fraudulent use of my bank debit card - so I obviously never read the posts properly before responding, hence my confusion earlier over the number of AyB's posts. Regarding the post numbers it seems that it is widespread. I have just checked several of the regulars and they all seem to have stopped accumulating posts. I will now contact Alice.

Just to keep you up to date with this issue, I received a reply from Alice last night and she advised that she would look at it. So far I have not heard back, nor has the problem been resolved by the looks of things so until I hear back I can't be sure what she has done, if anything, yet.

AyB did mention that this problem had occurred previously in the early days of this site starting up and that it was resolved. I don't know how it was resolved then but one way which Alice indicated in her email would probably be to reset the site's counter to zero which I would think will return everybody's count to zero, not just the site's total count which currently stands at over 10,000. It would be interesting to hear everyone's thoughts on this course of action, if it were to come to that as a possible last resort.

If that is what it takes to fix it then I am quite happy to go back to zero.

That is right Boatbuilder. As far as I can remember it only affected me. I can't help as to what was done to rectify the problem then though.

I have tried a couple of the settings to re-synch the post counts and other statistics but these have had no effect whatsoever. I have sent Alice another email as even if I wanted to reset the counter to zero, I can't find any way of doing it. It seems from the responses to my earlier post on the matter (or rather the lack of them) that not many people would be concerned if it was reset to zero, if it is at all possible. I have also asked Alice about a possible update that may be required for the board.

as far as I am concerned do what is necessary, so if it means resetting to zero so be it.

Further to the above discussion regarding the post counts, I may have possibly found out the reason why these have not been changing for most people and have altered a setting in each of the forums' permissions. If this has resolved the issue, I don't know how it came to be changed from what it should have been in the first place. I have noted some of the members' post counts before I made the change and will keep an eye on those counts when they next post. Please note that if it HAS resolved the issue, it will only pick up on posts made from now on and won't include those that have been made during the time since the end of August when it appeared to have gone haywire and the time I made this change at about 4-16 pm today . Fingers crossed!!!

It seems to have worked!!! Trigger's post count has increased by the two posts he has made between 4-16 pm, when I made the change, and now - from 834 to 836!
