"Teapigs"

Post by Trigger » Tue Feb 11, 2014 9:32 am

Earlier this morning I was in Tesco’s - strolling along the aisle where tea and coffee is stacked - and there in noticed a couple of packets of tea bags - the name of which puzzled me a bit: “Teapigs”! One was their Everyday Brew - a pack of 15 tea bags (50g) for £4.15!! But, they do say they only use whole leaf. http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/ ... =276898827

I think I’ll stick to my “Yorkshire Tea”!! Image

Some of the teapigs stuff they sell is over £146,000 a tonne.

Mind boggling prices.

morty - I wasn't planning on buying a tonne of it - or any of it for that matter!! Image

But, it just goes to show - there must be lots of people with more money than sense!

PS I bet you only put the prices per tonne - to show you know how to use a calculator! ;)

It doesn't take a calculator to work that out.

Funny how it worked out to be exactly £83,000 though - is that figure subject to rounding by any chance?

Simple mental arithmetic, Frankie, I'm sure you realise that. If not then -

£4.15 for 50g equates to £8.30 per 100g, which in turn equates to £83 per kilo and the said figure for 1000Kg :D

I suppose that really depends on the size of your thimble.

That alot of money for a few teabags ,not that I would buy them .Always buy my tea loose,if I'm feeling rich from the local shop that sells fresh ground coffee and tea by weight .If not tins of loose tea ,Earl grey or Gunpowder .

I m such a philistine never used anything except 'ordinary' teabags and 'ordinary' coffee (They all taste the same to me - not tea and coffee but the various 'breeds')

I can't agree with you on that one, FC - particularly where coffees are concerned. There are so many poor instant coffees about. I like either Carte Noir Espresso or the Kenco varieties. I have bought supermarket brands in the past but I have found many of them bitter. I also like Taylors of Harrogate's coffees and buy their 'Espresso' and 'Lazy Sunday' beans for that special treat. I occasionally drink tea but don't really have any preferences.

BB I m absolutely not saying you are not right I m talking about me personally my palette is obviously not sophisticated enough because I just don't notice much difference between expensive or cheap, the same goes for wines I don't find, TO ME, that I notice any difference Definitely me I m sure, but makes me cheap to wine and dine LOL dancer1
