Latest post of the previous page:

I use Longworth in Gorleston Road.

Good meat and great staff, and the greengrocer next door is very handy.

Beware Morrisons prices. I often find the same item cheaper elsewhere. Simple example, yesterday KP dry roasted peanuts in Morrisons £2.30. But sainsbury and Ocado £1.90. Big difference. Try the little smart fine app "my supermarket" scan the item and get up to date price comparisons.

Of course it's the same everywhere with the Big Four supermarkets - swings and roundabouts - some you win on some you lose. However I now find Aldi OK for most things and may have to visit one of the other big four every few weeks for things they don't sell.

I get through tons of Aldi french fries. They are oven chips but I fry them in the deep fryer and the kids can't tell them from McDonalds and only 69p a kilo. :-)

I don't like those skinny French fries Frankiesays although I notice you mention your 'kids' and 'McDonalds' and I think a lot of youngsters tend to go for the French fries because of McDonalds. I am on an Aunt Bessie's chip diet now, frozen oven chips but proper chips...although I don't fry them again, they are done in the oven 8-)

A very easy and healthy way to cook chips is to cut to you desired size parboil them (don't over do the boiling, don't mush them) then spray with frylight spray a shake of aromatic spices if liked and into the oven they go
I can't give you temperatures as my oven knob has lost its numbers and I never time anything just when they re ready but they are delicious

I like Morrisons' bacon bits - a big kilo block of good lean bacon bits for not much over a pound. Great for bacon omlettes, carbonarra and bacon and chorizo chicken casseroles. Better quality than Lidls which I previously bought. Don't know how long they will keep stocking it though.

In my ideal town I would have Sainsburys first, Lidl for certain items and Waitrose for Canadian bread flour and treats! But Lidl and Morrison's for Lowestoft.

I have never bought from either a Sainsbury's or a Waitrose not for any reason other than they haven't been in my area wherever I ve lived

Surprisingly, Waitrose deliver to Hopton, and it's free (but you have to spend at least £60). It comes all the way from North Walsham!

I just wish Ocado would venture this far...
