If it were not for Thomas Edison, we would all be watching television in the dark.

Re: General Random Pictures
Having read lately that some people have been charged exorbitant prices for meals in Venice (over £900 for a lunch for four) makes me glad that when I visited in 2005 the wife and I dined out at the local 'Burger King' which luckily wasn't situated in St. Mark's Square...otherwise I would have been paying £100 for a 'Whopper and Fries'

Just wondering why the Eiffel Tower happens to be in St Mark's Square, Mel?

I can't really remember Boatbuilder but I think maybe they were advertising hoardings hiding up building work being done in the square or maybe an exhibition of some sortsboatbuilder wrote:Just wondering why the Eiffel Tower happens to be in St Mark's Square, Mel?

Re: General Random Pictures
A couple of technology pictures looking back over the years.
The first is of mobile phones I've had over the years which also has the battery from my very first one from nearly 25 years ago, which in comparison to the later ones, was like a small brick. I don't know what happened to the phone itself - may still be tucked away somewhere - as I seem to recall I had a spare battery for it which is probably the one in the picture.
The second is of a couple of electronic organisers - a 'Psion II' from the late 1980's - which was UK technology - and a later 'Packard Bell' one from about the mid 1990's..

I hope you remembered the number of calories per doughnut!Mel wrote:Was in Hemsby last weekend where I enjoyed this hot doughnut (in fact I enjoyed three ) and a lovely cup of coffee

However, strictly between you, me and the gatepost: I have been told that if you cut/break open the aforementioned food item - the calories leak out!

Thanks Trigger, that is good to know On the subject of the doughnuts; when the young girl brought my wife and myself the six doughnuts she said "If you can't eat them all I can give you a bag to take the remainder home"....my wife looked at me and then at the young girl and said "Clearly you don't know my husband"Trigger wrote:However, strictly between you, me and the gatepost: I have been told that if you cut/break open the aforementioned food item - the calories leak out!
