Lowestoft Half Marathon 2017

Post by Mel » Sun Oct 01, 2017 6:09 pm

The Lowestoft Half Marathon organised by Nicholson's Solicitors supporting the charity 'Break' was run today. I think the weather conditions, wet and windy, favoured the runners more than the spectators!! But well done to all the runners who were magnificent. The eventual winner was Robert Chenery, vest number 83. Second was Lee Cook, vest number 102. The first woman pass the finishing post was Sarah Baxter, vest number 37 UK1

I wasn't aware there was a Lowestoft Half Marathon Mel.
However, I guess you took part as you seemed to be all around the course and at the finishing line. :D

I was watching, as some friends were running it couldn’t have been a worse day for running cold, raining and very, very windy
The third Most Easterly Half marathon
I have to really admire some of the back runners who fully completely the 20k looking very unlike ‘runners’ some quite overweight, some old and some even disabled but they plodded on through the elements to finish .......Hats off to them courage is even more important than fastness or fitness
Badly organised around the Lynhurst Rd area where a loop meant early runners were nearly bumping into late runners
And a big thumbs down to a few cars who were determined they wanted to drive to their houses in the middle of the race ....boooooo
Always be yourself because the people that matter don't mind, and the ones who mind, don't matter.

Entirely agree with you there Funkychick and also hats off to all those who stood in the rain and encouraged the runners on, especially all the race stewards and the gentleman who had to cycle the course twice leading the runners 8-)

Three more pictures from the race...
