Gull Wing Bridge Construction

Post by boatbuilder » Sat Mar 26, 2022 4:59 pm

It's just a year since work started and I thought we should have a topic in the Dark Room for images on the new Third Crossing during construction.

These first few posts are of images taken this afternoon. If anybody else has any they have taken, then please post them.

These first five were taken looking west from near ASDA.

The final two are of the access road to be named Colin Law Way, being built from Waveney Drive to give access to Riverside Road through the old Boulton & Paul site.

And four passing through the bascule bridge. Note the cloud of dust as it scraped the side in the third image.

One of the south side spans is now in place (extreme right of the image) and preparation for the second span to be lifted are underway as they add additional counter-balance weights to the crane (second image)

Rather strangely, I just found a video running in another window on my browser from earlier this afternoon when the camera was showing the first span in place in its entirety. I don't know how it was still 'active' at 9-30 pm. - very strange. :?

The last of the fixed spans was lifted from the barge this morning and into place. It was later moved onto the quayside. ???
