Was speaking to someone a few days back interested in the graves with skulls & hourglasses showing time run out on them. Where in the churchyard are those graves, please.

Re: Lowestoft
Kirkley Mill doctors' surgery. Rumour has it this place was built to take over some of the functions of Lowestoft Hospital, but there are no beds or wards here (to my knowledge). Anyone know what the upstairs here is (or will be) used for?
The cone shaped white part is built to represent a windmill. There was never a windmill on this site, it used to have a church here, known as Colville Hall. No one (to my knowledge) knows why the name Kirkley Mill was chosen for this site.
The area on the left, where the car & fence are in this picture is, I think, planned to be a chemists shop. Not long to wait to find out because building work on it started about last week.

Re: Lowestoft
I think it was called Kirkley Mill because there was a mill near there, hence Mill Rd etc I think the interpretation of a mill on the roof is awful and looks like an upside down bucket dreadful architecture IMO I don't think there's ever been any intention of having wards or beds but possible some of the out patient things like a walk-in centre, maybe phlebotomy etc I think the upstairs was going to be used for some NHS departments offices

Joe - glad you liked the photo of St Margaret’s.Joe wrote:Another good picture.Trigger wrote:St.Margaret's - the Parish Church of Lowestoft
Re: your comment about the gravestones - the only one I’ve seen there is the photo I've attached. If I remember correctly, it’s in the area of gravestones beside the south wall of the church. So if you walked from the Porch - towards the Lychgate - this gravestone is on the left - somewhere! I’ll try and visit later today and get a more accurate location.

Re: My photo the old gravestone with a skull:
Found it - and, if you walk in through the Lychgate - it's just a short way - over on the right.
Photo taken from near that gravestone - and showing it's location with the Lychgate in the background.
Visited there today, and it's not where I thought it was - so got that wrong!!If I remember correctly, it’s in the area of gravestones beside the south wall of the church.

Where does that statue reside trigger? Is it by the prom entrance?

Frankie, I posted a picture of the complete statue in the penultimate post on page 2 of this topic. Here is another view of it.
