Another pub shut down is the 'Suffolk Punch' on the corner of Westwood Ave and Pinewood Ave. It is being converted I believe (don't quote me on this) into a Co-op store.

Re: Lowestoft
Times have certainly changed, I believe it will be hard to find another pub in lowestoft's history that provided so much entertainmet and Jolity as the Suffolk Punch in its heyday. I can recall from first hand knowledge that at ten minutes to eleven on a Saturday night with the shout of last orders please the long bar would be packed three or four deep with people ordering there last drinks for them selves, family & friends.
The bar maids would add up the drinks often as many as eight or more in there heads and stick the money in a cash draw, certainly faster than any computers could coup with. Piano music and singing would almost lift the roof off the building.
They were the days that were.

Benjamin Britten's old home, which changed a few years ago from being a dentist's surgery to an award winning B&B, Britten House.

Re: Lowestoft
Thanks Mel. It was only whilst looking at the images I took last evening this afternoon with a friend that they pointed out that the sun shining through the gap in the statue of the fisherman, actually resembles a fish.Mel wrote:A super looking sky in the first picture Boatbuilder, certainly shows Lowestoft in a better'light' than my previous picturesboatbuilder wrote:I hope these taken this evening are more pleasing to the eye, Mel.
