Re: How does your garden grow?
Very nice SB, great to see a bit of colour in the garden at this time of year. My garden is pretty boring at the moment with no signs of colour at all.
I have mostly shrubs in my garden, so it tends to be all or nothing and at the moment it's nothing!
I was out doing a bit of weeding last week. I spent two hours out there, but there is still plenty more to do.
Because of the mild winter the weeds seem to be thriving and the weed killer doesn't seem to work very well.

Re: How does your garden grow?
Thank you for your comments Gary, having flowers in the garden means work, however whilst I can still get out there and weed, hoe and dig I will continue to try and maintain colour through out the year. I have started to plant evergreen shrubs with with variegated coloured leaves as this gives colour to those dull winter days, also it is preparing me for my Autumn years when I can no longer do much with the garden.
As the sun has been recently shining brightly I thought I would take a few more photos for my 2014 Garden File, here are some more.

Re: How does your garden grow?
The first picture is one of a number of these flowers that survived the winter. The second picture is of an evergreen which doesn't seem to flower every year. I have had this for at least 6 years and the first time it flowered was in 2011 (the third picture). Somebody on the forum did tell me what it was then but I have since forgotten. This year it has more buds on it that ever before so hopefully these will be open later this month.

Re: How does your garden grow?
Your first photo looks like a carnation and the other two are Camelias BB. I have one Camelia shrub which does bloom each year, however usually gets burnt by the frosts when it comes out. I shall have to look tomorrow to see if I have any flowers out yet, haven't looked lately as it is tucked up a corner to avoid the sharp frosts.

Re: How does your garden grow?
Yes, that's the one SB - Camellia. Thanks. I knew the other one was a carnation. They were only planted last year.

Re: How does your garden grow?
BB,the Camellias look good healthy plants and this mild weather will help them to bloom of which the one out looks beautiful.
Below is a photo I took last year of our Camellia in bloom.

Last summer whenever I took carnations to the cemetery, as I broke the stalks to fit the vase I would bring those bits home and stick them in soil and they have all struck so have two big pots of carnations starting to grow

No SB, but England just took the 'Schmeichel' out of Denmark.
