Here’s an electronic musical instrument which many people may have heard – e.g. as in the Theme from “Midsummer Murders”, but probably never seen.

Katica Illényi – playing the Theremin – two contrasting pieces:
“Only You”

and
“Once upon a time in the West” – Ennio Morricone

Thanks for posting those Trigger - much appreciated.

I have seen that instrument before and I believe I have seen the 'Once Upon a Time in the West' one before, as that tune is also one of my all-time favourites. You only have to ask my wife. :D

I have also taken the liberty of changing your posted link to it, to the actual embedded video.

Thanks for comments! Thanks for changing the link - tried twice but couldn't work out the piece to put between the "youtube" bits! :D Katica is a very talented lady - fabulous violinist - and tap dances too! 8-)
I very much enjoy the music of Morricone. “Gabriel’s Oboe” – a very beautiful and emotional piece. The breath control for the soloist is amazing.

I just came across this version of 'Once Upon a Time in the West' which popped into the screen at the end of watching something else.
It's a solo piano by Adi Mehic accompanying a pretty young lady named Steffi Vertriest and appears to be recorded in a church.

I have certainly never seen one Trigger or heard of a Theremin but what a strange instrument. I thought it was a modern invention but after a little Google I found it was patented in 1928 by its Soviet inventor.

That is my daily bit of new knowledge sorted :)

Mel - pleased to be able to broaden your knowledge! My usual fee doesn't apply in this instance. :P
Here's a video clip of Leon Theremin playing the Theremin:

Mel: I have only ever once seen a Theremin played and it was here in Lowestoft! It was it was many moons ago (in my dim and murky past!) and it was either on the seafront – or at Everitt’s park – during a day-time concert of some sort. Didn’t know what it was or why it made that very strange sound!

I just happened to come across this variation of Ennio Morricone's 'Once Upon a Time in the West' by the 'Bel Canto Choir' of Vilnius, Lithuania.
