December 14th. A British tourist has been killed and another injured after gun-wielding robbers on a motorbike ambushed them outside a five-star hotel in Argentina, it is reported.
The attack happened when the two men, said to be aged 28 and 35, were stood outside the luxurious Faena Art Hotel in Buenos Aires.

December 16th. Toni-Ann Singh has won the 69th Miss World beauty pageant.
It's the first time in history that black women hold the titles for Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, Miss America, Miss Universe and Miss World.
The 23-year-old student was born in St Thomas, Jamaica, and plans to study medicine and become a doctor.

December 18th Kenny Lynch, who has died aged 81, was one of the few people of Caribbean origin prominent in the British entertainment world of the 1960s and 70s. A talented singer and songwriter, with Top 10 hits to his name in both guises, he became a familiar television presence via his frequent appearances on variety shows, sitcoms and quiz programmes.

December 20th Facebook is investigating a report that a database containing names and phone numbers of more than 267 million users was exposed online.
The database was made available for download last week on an online hacker forum that apparently belonged to a crime group, according to a blog post on the website Comparitech.

December 21st. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrest two suspects after they allegedly made online death threats to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Trudeau had to wear a bulletproof vest during a visit to Mississauga, Ontario, due to the threats made during his electoral campaign.

December 22nd. Fern Britton's actor and director dad Tony has died aged 95.
The TV presenter announced the heart-breaking news this morning on social media as she paid tribute to the legendary actor.

December 24th. The season of goodwill is here, and Glaswegians have been going the extra mile to help the homeless and rough sleepers in the city over the festive period.
A nationwide initiative, set up early this year, set up on the Tradeston Bridge in Glasgow last night in an attempt ensure those sleeping out in the cold are warm during the winter months.

December 25th. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is briefly brought to a bomb shelter during an election rally in Ashkelon, Israel, after a rocket is fired from the Gaza Strip. The rocket is intercepted with no casualties reported.

December 26th. Japan has hanged a Chinese man for the high-profile and brutal murder of a family of four, the first execution of a foreigner in 10 years.
The man, Wei Wei, carried out the murders in 2003 with two accomplices.
They fled to China, where one was executed in 2005 and the other sentenced to life in jail.

December 28th. John Bercow has been snubbed in the New Year honours - fuelling suggestions that he will become the first speaker in 230 years not to be automatically offered an honour after he stepped down last month.
The move would be seen as 'revenge' from prime minister Boris Johnson and his predecessor Theresa May over the handling of Brexit, after earlier this year media reports claimed Bercow would not receive automatic peerage.
