November 28th. Clive James, the Australian writer and broadcaster known around the world for his dry wit, has died at the age of 80.
Diagnosed with leukaemia in 2010, the author and critic had movingly written about his terminal illness during the final years of his life.

2019

November 29th. London Bridge stabbing: A terrorist mass stabbing at London Bridge kills two civilians and injures three others. The attacker, Usman Khan, wearing a fake explosive belt, is shot dead by police on the bridge. Khan was a former prisoner convicted of terrorism offences, and had links to Islamist terrorist groups.

November 30th. Australia batsman David Warner notched a stunning triple century in the second Test against Pakistan on Saturday.
The 33-year-old finished with an unbeaten 335 (not out) from 418 balls in Adelaide as the dominant hosts declared on 589 for three on day two.

December 2nd. Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has won the Ballon d'Or award for the world's best player for a record sixth time.
It is the 32-year-old Argentine's first Ballon d'Or since 2015 and comes after he scored 54 times for club and country in 2018-19, in which Barca won La Liga.
Virgil van Dijk was second - one of four Liverpool players in the top seven, including Sadio Mane in fourth.
Juventus and Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who has won the award five times, was third in the voting.

December 3rd. An explosion at a ceramic factory in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, kills at least 16 people and leaves dozens injured, according to the Sudanese Professionals Association.

December 4th. Former England captain Bob Willis has died at the age of 70.
The fast bowler took 325 wickets in 90 Tests from 1971 to 1984, claiming a career-best 8-43 to help England to a famous win over Australia at Headingley in the 1981 Ashes.
He captained England in 18 Tests and 29 one-day internationals before his retirement from all forms of cricket in 1984.

December 6th. Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins has been mugged in London after intervening in a street robbery.
The 39-year-old was on her way to a rehearsal for a charity carol concert in Chelsea at around 15:10 GMT on Wednesday when she witnessed an older woman being attacked, her agent said.
The Neath-born mezzo-soprano was then mugged herself after trying to help.

December 8th A large fire has swept through a bag factory in the Indian capital Delhi, killing 43 workers, officials say.
The blaze broke out at the four-storey building in the city's congested old quarter early on Sunday morning.
At least 100 people were sleeping inside the factory, which mainly makes school bags, when the fire started. More than 60 have been rescued.

December 9th. New Zealand's Whakaari / White Island stratovolcano erupts with reports of at least five fatalities and a number of people injured or missing. Around 50 people, mostly tourists, were believed to be on the island at the time of eruption, according to Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

December 10th. One of the last surviving pilots who fought in the Battle of Britain during World War Two has died aged 101.
Flight Lieutenant Maurice Mounsdon was one of only four remaining members of The Few - a group of 3,000 airmen who defended the skies above southern England from the Nazis in 1940.

December 12th. Greta Thunberg, the Swedish schoolgirl who inspired a global movement to fight climate change, has been named Time magazine's Person of the Year for 2019.
The 16-year-old is the youngest person to be chosen by the magazine in a tradition that started in 1927.
