Latest post of the previous page:

But he's only sailing it Dave, not building it.
I'd be happy with this though. :D

On this the 20th Anniversary of the tragic death of Princess Diana, I though this would be a fitting tribute.

Another favourite of mine, 'We Didn't Start The Fire' by Billy Joel.

If it were not for Thomas Edison, we would all be watching television in the dark.

An old classic by Fats Domino who died yesterday aged eighty-nine.

Probably one of the best, if not THE best, female voices to grace the charts in the 1960's was Judith Durham of The Seekers. Here are two videos of her singing the same song 'Danny Boy'. One is obviously a live recording in B&W video and the other is no doubt a studio recording dubbed on to an HD video. I think the B&W one emphasises what a great voice she has, even without the recording studio effects. Just for interest, she is now aged 74.

I can't argue with that, boatbuilder, no studio tricks, just a stool and backing music. I looked on Google to see what she was doing now and read that she had a stroke in 2013 but is okay now.

'In May 2013, during The Seekers' Golden Jubilee tour, Durham suffered a stroke which diminished her ability to read and write not only visual language but also musical scores. During her convalescence she made progress to rebuild those skills. Her singing ability was never affected.'

It's so hard to believe that she is now 74 Dave. Of course we are all getting older but when you haven't seen them for many a year you always visualise and think of them as you remember they were. Pleased to know that she has progressed well since the stroke. I actually played quite a bit of her (The Seekers) music today.

I thought it was time to revive this topic so here is a favourite song of mine from 'The Umbrellas of Cherbourg' sung by a favourite singer - Scott Walker (Walker Brothers).

And another classic from 'Procol Harum'

A Cilla Black favourite of mine, Liverpool Lullaby, and maybe boatbuilder's.

I read that drummer Hal Blaine, who played on hundreds of rock's greatest songs, had died age ninety. Amongst others he played on 'Be My Baby' by the Ronettes which made me listen to it on YouTube. The first video has the distinctive opening drum beat, the second doesn't but has the lead singer batting her eyes which is too good to miss. I'm not as old I thought as I thought I was after all. :D

I thought the days when a pretty girls eyes could get my attention were gone, boatbuilder, but apparently there's life in the old dog yet. dancer1

I knew what you meant, Dave. It was the wording that seems to contain an 'I thought' too many. :?

I didn't notice that, boatbuilder, I didn't give it a second thought that I'd given it a second thought. ;) :D
