Word Association Game
From the beginning of August, both this topic and the other three word game topics will have slightly different names and will not be changed on a monthly basis but will continue indefinitely in the one topic.
However, to make this particular Word Association topic a bit more interesting it will change slightly as follows:
When the game starts, which will be in the next post made in this topic after the old game is 'locked' later today, Dave will choose a new random word to start it off. This topic will be locked until then.
The next person to post should then type (or copy) the same word from Dave's post and follow it with their own 'associated' word, followed by a hyphen (-). The next person to post will then again copy and paste all the words in the previous post, followed by their own word and another hyphen. The game continues in the same vain and each post will therefore increase in size by one word and might eventually become quite long.
However, here is the difference : The idea is not to repeat any word that has already been posted in the current list and if that happens, the person who spots a duplication should copy the last post made and highlight the duplicated words with a colour and start a new game by choosing an entirely new random word.
The next person to post copies just that one new word into their post and the game continues in the same way as before until the same thing happens again.
I came across this version on another forum I visit and it works very well and seems to be well used. The image below shows how a game had progressed to a considerable length until a duplication was made and what happened in the next post after the duplication was spotted and how the subsequent post continued the next new game. Oh, and it doesn't matter if the duplication isn't spotted immediately after it is made. Sometimes the game may have continued for several words until somebody picks up on it. It is after all, just for fun.
I hope you enjoy it and find it a bit more interesting than the current one.

If it were not for Thomas Edison, we would all be watching television in the dark.
