February 28th. FBI Director Christopher Wray confirmed the agency's conclusion that the COVID pandemic was probably the result of a lab leak in Wuhan, China.
Commenting for the first time on Tuesday about the FBI's judgment, Wray reiterated his agency's initial findings from 2021, adding that the Chinese government has allegedly worked to undermine the damning results.

March 2nd. Pulp bassist Steve Mackey has tragically died aged 56, after spending the last three months 'fighting with all his strength and determination' in hospital. The musician passed away on Thursday morning, the band announced as his heartbroken wife Katie Grand revealed he had secretly been battling with his health.

March 4th. Russian and Ukrainian forces are fighting in the streets of Bakhmut - but Russia does not control the eastern city, its deputy mayor has said. Oleksandr Marchenko also told the BBC the remaining 4,000 civilians are living in shelters without access to gas, electricity or water. Mr Marchenko said "not a single building" had remained untouched and that the city is "almost destroyed".

March 8th. A Kentucky police department that conducted the botched armed raid in which a hospital worker was killed routinely used excessive force, a Department of Justice review has found.
Louisville Metro Police engaged in a pattern of civil rights violations including unjustified neck restraints and canine attacks, the review said. The investigation followed the killing of Breonna Taylor during a chaotic raid in March 2020. She was hit with six bullets.

March 10th. Gary Lineker has been forced off his Match of the Day duties by the BBC because he won't apologise for his comments on social media, Sky News understands. The BBC said in a statement that the presenter will "step back" from hosting the weekly football highlights programme.

March 14th. David Vencl emerged from the depths of Switzerland's Lake Sils on Tuesday after a record dive beneath the ice to a depth of more than 50 meters without a wetsuit.
The 40-year-old Czech diver's record vertical plunge to 52.1 meters in a single breath follows his entry into the Guinness World Records book for swimming the length of a frozen Czech lake in 2021.
