January 30th. At least 59 people have been killed by a suicide bombing that apparently targeted policemen praying in a mosque in Peshawar, Pakistan. The mosque is within the tightly guarded police headquarters area.
"Terrorists want to create fear by targeting those who perform the duty of defending Pakistan," Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said.

February 2nd. British Gas has been banned from forcing prepayment meters and is now under pressure to explain how it will compensate 'vulnerable' customers who faced debt collectors.
Energy regulator Ofgem has now issued a legal order barring British Gas from forcibly entering customers' homes until it can prove that it was complying with all its legal obligations.

February 3rd : Police investigating the disappearance of mother-of-two Nicola Bulley believe she fell into a river. The 45-year-old was last seen next to the River Wyre in St Michael's on Wyre, Lancashire, on a dog walk a week ago. A major search for Ms Bulley continues, but no trace of her has been found.

February 4th. The US has shot down a giant Chinese balloon that it says has been spying on key military sites across America. The Department of Defence confirmed its fighter jets brought down the balloon over US territorial waters.

February 6th. The death toll from a strong earthquake in south-eastern Turkey, near Syria's border, could rise eight-fold, the World Health Organisation has warned. The toll, which currently stands at more than 3,400 people, has increased rapidly since the first earthquake struck early on Monday morning.

February 8th. President Zelensky told King Charles 'in Ukraine today every air force pilot is a king' during a meeting with the monarch on a visit to the UK. The Ukrainian president met the King for the first time in a 'truly special' audience at Buckingham Palace after he mentioned the monarch's RAF career in his campaign to get British jets to Ukraine.

February 10th. A World War Two bomb found in Great Yarmouth has detonated while work was being done to defuse it, causing a huge blast that was heard for miles. Army specialists were attempting to disarm it when there was an unplanned detonation at about 17:00 GMT.

February 12th. Airspace at the U.S.-Canada border near Michigan was closed by the FAA on Sunday afternoon and another “flying object” was shot down, according to a Congressman from Michigan. In fact, the object was shaped like an octagon, according to a new report from the Wall Street Journal. The octagon was flying at roughly 20,000 feet, which means it posed a potential threat to civilian aircraft, according to the Journal.

February 14th. At least 73 migrants are missing and presumed dead after their boat sank off the Libyan coast, according to the UN's International Organization for Migration (IOM). Only seven people survived Tuesday's shipwreck but are in "extremely dire conditions" in hospital.
