April 28th. A British national has been killed in Ukraine and a second is missing, the UK Foreign Office has said. Sources in Ukraine told the BBC the dead man is Scott Sibley, who is understood to have been fighting for Ukrainian forces. He is the first British national confirmed to have been killed in the conflict and has been described as a "friend like no other".

April 29th : Thirty-four people are injured in a roof collapse near the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, United States.

April 30th. A man in his 30s has been stabbed to death and seven others injured following a 'serious altercation' at a nightclub in Cornwall. Emergency services rushed to the Eclipse Nightclub, in the Victoria Square area of Bodmin following reports 'someone was in possession of a knife' shortly after 3am.

May 1st : At least six people are killed and 30 others are injured in Illinois, United States, after a dust storm causes a crash involving 70 to 90 vehicles on Interstate 55.

More than 11,000 television and film writers have gone on strike for the first time in 15 years following the breakdown of negotiations between the Writers Guild of America and Hollywood studios, the guild says. The walkout began at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time, when the contract that was in force ran out.

May 4th. A jury in New York has ruled that British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran is not liable for copyright infringement in a case that has been closely watched by the global entertainment industry. The case centred on whether Sheeran ripped off Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get It On and will be seen as a major victory for recording artists.

May 6th. King Charles and Queen Camilla have been crowned on a historic day of pageantry, capped by cheering from crowds in front of Buckingham Palace. Thousands packed the Mall despite the rain, after a deeply religious Coronation service at Westminster Abbey and a huge procession through London.

May 12th. Two Russian pilots were killed on Friday when a Russian Mi-28 military helicopter crashed in the annexed peninsula of Crimea, Russian news agencies reported, citing the defence ministry. The defence ministry said it believed the reason for the crash was equipment failure, the TASS news agency reported.
