Post by Suffolkboy » Sun Oct 05, 2014 11:56 am

Yesterday we visited The Norfolk Knitters and Stitchers Grand Exhibition at Dereham,my Wife has been a creative knitter as long as I can remember so I like to go along sometimes to see what these ladies do.
Here are a sample of photos taken by myself,

One of the displays caught our eyes,it represented the Louise Hamilton Centre which is based at the James Paget Hospital. This centre provides a much needed information and supportive care centre for everyone in the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area who needs advice and support from diagnosis, during treatment, into survivorship or through to palliative care of any life-limiting or progressive illness.

My dear lady is busy with her latest project which is knitting sensor bands for those with dementia,As I understand many of the knitting clubs are participating in this across Norfolk and Suffolk.
Here are some examples which my dear lady has knitted.

The idea BB is that the Dementia patients can put their hands inside and fiddle with things sewn inside as well as outside. This project was started by the UEA and Norfolk & Norwich Hospital as a trial project
The bands are known as Sensory bands.

I know it is a bit late as I have only just read your post. Firstly I say thank you for the link as I never knew such a thing existed as Duct tape art, secondly I have enjoyed watching some of the projects, particularly liked this one, Mixed Media Art Canvas Collage Tutorial - Industrial Heart, this can be found on utube. Just loved the simplicity, the result and the message portrayed on the finished article.
