We were definitely second best out on the field, the Uruguay players were more purposeful in their running and their commitment to the game, they put in more effort and were rewarded for this...they even out sung us at the opening anthems  England were certainly the poorer team and the best team on the night won.

There is still a slight chance of us progressing further depending on the results of other matches to be played but would that be a good thing, good for the sale of replica shirts and the profits of breweries maybe but unless our team radically improve we would just be prolonging our misery.

I don't know much about football which will probably be obvious to all but, is there a purpose to the England players kicking the ball back and forth leisurely to each other up at our end opposed to the Urgies who upon possession are straight up to our goalposts like rats up a drainpipe? Is this some kind of tactic on our part?

Just as well Morty1753 it will save the England supporters having their '19th Nervous Breakdown'.

Having watched the Costa Rica game today and this evening's game between France and Switzerland it has really shown me how poor England have been this tournament. Never mind, only another two years to the European Championship Finals...that is if we qualify!! ;)

With England out the support in our house has gone to the Germans, only because my wife think she has some German ancestry (the only Germanic thing about her I can see is the little Adolph moustache she has on her top lip  ) anyway we will be rooting for them tonight against Ghana.

Argentina are playing at the moment and are having a hard time trying to score against the team from Iran...surely not another unexpected result :o

Hi Corine!!! Image

For me - good luck to Costa Rica. It doesn't matter IF England beat them on Tuesday - they are still in the next round. :D

I see Suarez is getting his teeth stuck into his role. A ban in the past has clearly not worked, how about we adopt a different tactic and just extract all his teeth and don't allow him to use a fixative to hold in his falsies?

Brazil are through to the next round, rather luckily in my opinion as they narrowly beat Chile on penalties this evening with Chile hitting the bar in the last minute of extra time. The next match on tonight is the one involving Uruguay, although having lost their bite up front I don't know how they will get on against a strong Colombian team.

Brazil battled their way into the semi-finals after a bruising victory against Colombia. Brazil have not been playing that well during this world cup but still find themselves one game away from the final. Their opponents in the semi-final will be Germany who beat France yesterday 1-0 and Brazil will go into that game without their captain who is suspended and also without their talisman and possibly best player Neymar who was injured in yesterdays game. The Germans could well spoil the party for Brazil next Tuesday when they meet, fingers crossed it is a good game, there has been a few this tournament...one of the best World Cups I can remember...although not as good as 1966 ;) dancer1

The Germans are the new world champions, not a very exciting game but I am glad it didn't go to penalties and the goal that won the game was worthy of winning a final. So well done Germany and back to the drawing board for Brazil, Spain and the English squad...only another four years to get prepared ;)
