Found an interesting article: “Find Archive Film Footage Of Your Postcode”: As part of its current Britain on Film season, the BFI has produced an interactive ‘film map’ that allows you to search for archive videos made in your local area. Tap in your postcode and the site brings up any films it has related to said location.
The collection ranges from 1895 to the present day and includes adverts, newsreels, government-made films, TV shows and movies, as well as the world’s earliest home movies dating back to 1902.”

It’s just someone’s holiday film - views of fishing smacks sailing out of the Pier Heads - and into open waters, a sea plane, St Luke's Hospital, etc.
Fishing Smacks - one I couldn’t read the number of - the film is actually “back to front” but, at enormous expense” - but I managed to see that it’s - LT293!
I searched for that number but only came up with a photo of “Lowestoft fishing boat in Lerwick harbour. BOSTON SEA STALLION LT 293. Taken on 26 June 1961.” A motor vessel - NOT a Fishing Smack!

Looks much like the first films my dad took when we first came to Lowestoft then to Gt Yarmouth well it made a change from Cornwall
There is 70 or more 50 foot cine films in the attic which show all of "us" growing up because there were 7 boys its very hard to tell who is who being as there is basically only a year or two between us (didn't get a tv until I was 5 I think) Think mum made him get one for some reason or another

Unfortunately the FAQ's state that it is only currently available in the UK Meg. At least the word 'currently' might be a hint that it could be available sometime in the future.

The availability of the videos on the BFIplayer was only mentioned on our news last night's so it is early days yet.

My own collection of 8-mm cine films started 50 years ago in 1965 when I bought my first cine camera from Boots.

I just enjoyed watching this 33 minute film of my home town, Liverpool, from the same year - 1929.

Although it was filmed 18 years before I was born, it brought back some wonderful memories from my childhood. Many things hadn't changed, we still had the Overhead Railway (until 1956) which I used to love travelling on and the Passenger liners still used to sail from there.

Oh I am quite able to do the cooking cleaning laundry shopping and look after myself but I do it MY way and that is not her way so I get out of the way.
