The Hatfield

Post by slimboydim » Tue Feb 25, 2014 10:03 am

Good Morning All, quite a while ago I went to a reception at The Hatfield, and the
food was excellent. Notice they have a board out on a Sunday for Carvery.
Anyone been in recent times, as I am thinking of going with a few others.
Mentioned it to someone locally who was not very complimentary about it.
Any feedback welcomed, good or bad.

Thank You.

I haven't been recently but had a carvery a couple of summers back and it was dreadful (very dry over cooked cardboardy potatoes dry 'kept hot too long' meat and an awful synthetic Eton mess afterwards) worst I d ever encountered hence the reason I haven't been since I've recently read mixed reviews some saying its marvellous others saying only ok or poor food It may well have improved since I went I think the Wherry carvery is very much better IMO

I can't agree FC, I haven't been to the Hatfield of late but I enjoyed it when I did go, I have to say my last experience of the Wherry was awful. However having said that I am going back to the Wherry at the end of March so I will let you know if it is any better.

Did you have a carvery at the Hatfield Meryl or eat off their menu because it seems to be the carvery people find rank
The Wherry did go down a few years ago and it was rough but of late its been miles better and very popular I ll wait for your verdict in March

Good Afternoon, Thanks for your replies, looks like I will be checking
it out and reporting back! Thanks again for replying.
Good to hear both sides. Comments made me think it wasn't The
Carvery I had, it was a sit down meal, was really nice, must be
twoish years ago though...
Anyone else got anywhere local to recommend, please do so.

Thank You.

If you like Chinese food, The Gourmet Paradise is lovely. It is in the old Labour Club premises off Middle Drive.

On the subject of the Hatfield Hotel, I have been twice in the last couple of months, once for an evening meal and once for a lunchtime carvery and both were excellent and the service was very good too.

Hi funkychick and all, I am in at last, sorry to say my only one meal at the Hatfield was disappointing, but that was quite a few years ago, and it was a shame, but I will be interested to know what it is really like today, will read all your comments, thanks.

Whahoo at last Sunny welcome on board

I was talking to someone yesterday who said it changed hands when they built the new conservatory area (so about 6 months or so ago) and she says the food is now good as Meryl had already reported So I hope to give it a go next week and will report back

For people who like a short trip out of town why not try the Cliff at Gorleston, I was out there today and the Sunday roast was both supherb and inexpensive and in a first class setting. We were given normal size dinner plates and a small helping of about six or severn vegetable items along with five (meats made it an excellent meal.
Needless to say that some platefuls of food were almost sky high.
