Mac attack: OS X Yosemite hit by zero-day vulnerability

There's some bad news for Mac owners today, as it has emerged that the latest version of OS X (Yosemite) has a major zero-day vulnerability which is being exploited to access computers (with no need for any system password) and directly install malware on machines.
This is another prime example of how with Apple's computers becoming more popular, malware authors are looking to exploit unwary users who still believe OS X is a safe haven never troubled by viruses and other similar nastiness

I am having a bit of trouble with my printer a Kodak and it wasn't until I had a little search on the internet yesterday I found out that Kodak no longer sells printers. The print head on my printer has decided it no longer wants to print any magenta, I have tried cleaning it with an Iso Propyl solution but to no avail; looked to see if I could buy a new print head and the prices were between £44 and £58 but when I realised that Kodak were no longer going to be in the printer business I thought maybe it would be wiser to buy a new printer from a different manufacturer. So that is what I am going to do...the hunt is on :)

Thanks for the info Mel,I to have a Kodak printer which has some teething problems occasionally although to be fair has done well for how long it has been in use. I also have been thinking of replacing mine also.

Bugger!!! When I find a printer that works the way my Kodak does I get very happy then POOF along comes this information to deflate my love for this beautiful little working devise!
I have many ink carts and at the moment my printer is being very kind and working (kiss of death to it now then)
mine is the ESP C310 which is small enough to fit out the way.

Oh well Eastman must be concentrating on something else I hope.....

Kodak announced they were pulling out of Printers in 2012 but they didn't stop making them until 2013. They said they would continue to make the cartridges for them for the life of the printers - however long that may be - and offer support.

I have had my Kodak for a couple of years now and up until I give it the kiss of death it has served me and the daughter well (much better than the daughters HP!!)
As it is wify I can be sat near it and all of a sudden it will burst into life and print out stuff! which then is collected by said daughter!
Now I know it is my electric, my paper, my inks and the wear n tear on MY printer but she seems happy :free:

I have the Kodak ESP7 and like yours Nikkai it has given good service. We originally had an HP which seemed to drink ink and cost a £40 each time we needed to buy some more and added to the cost it was always giving us trouble, hence we replaced it many moons ago with the Kodak ESP7 buying the ink cartridges from ASDA £19.

I do a lot of printing (err did because of work) and I get got my carts from the internet the colour worked out about £3.25 and the black £2.80 though they are not genuine the results were top quality IMHO
I have 7 black and 4 colour left from the last order so I may not replace them in the same quantity again just in case my kiss of death to the printer.

Sounds like you're a born pessimist, nikkai. Your glass is always 'half empty' rather than 'half full' Image

I take it that you'll never retire then, nikkai, assuming you locate that job. :D Image
