I received a new coin to add to my collection today.

This is a silver proof 50p coin issued to commemorate 50 years since 'D Day' decimalisation on 15th February 1971.

I collect coins from different countries.

The only foreign ones I have are mostly those that have been left over from either business trips or holidays that I posted a few pages back.

I haven't posted on here for a while although I have added to my collection occasionally over the past 18 months or so. Here are a couple of very recent additions:

Today I received my first coins bearing the portrait of King Charles III as monarch, issued to commemorate the life of our late Queen Elizabeth II's reign. I ordered these within the first half-hour after their release time at 9-am on 3rd October last year, so I have been waiting patiently - or should that really be 'impatiently' - for them as the Royal Mint indicated at the time that they wouldn't be available for approx. 16 weeks. I am still waiting for two further items ordered at the same time. Hopefully they shouldn't be much longer.

These first three images are of the 1-ounce (£2) Silver Proof coin.

Continuing from the previous post, these three images are of the King Charles III 50p Silver Proof coin.

This is the third of the three coins I ordered which were issued to commemorate HM Queen Elizabeth II's reign. It is a £5 Silver Proof.

This £2 Silver Proof coin was issued this year to mark the 200th anniversary of the death of Edward Jenner, the English physycian and scientist who pioneered the concept of vaccines, and created the smallpox vaccine, the world's first vaccine.

A memorial two-coin set I recently acquired, issued to commemorate the late Queen's reign and life.

The first one is an uncirculated Five Shilling coin issued in 1953 to commemorate the Coronation.

The second - a £5 uncirculated coin was issued to commemorate and chronicle the succession from one monarch to another,

Another recently acquired coin - a 1977 proof Crown that was issued to commemorate the late Queen's Silver Jubilee.

Although I have posted one of these coins elsewhere in the 'Coronation' topic (the £5 silver proof coin), I have since received a second Coronation coin which I had been waiting for (the 1-troy oz. £2 silver proof). In fact it arrived today which is about a month earlier than I had expected it, so was quite surprised when I received the dispatch notification yeasterday.

The difference between the two coins, apart from the designs and monetary value is the £5 coin weighs one ounce avoirdupoir (28.28 grams) and is struck in .925 Ag and the £2 coin weighs one troy ounce (31.21 grams) struck in a higher purity .999 Ag.

Yesterday I received the new definitive proof coins that were ordered about seven weeks ago.





On Friday, I added another coin to my collection which is somewhat different from what I have been collecting over the years, which in the main have been UK coins. This one is a silver Half-Dollar from the USA and was minted in 1892/3 to commemorate 400 years since Christopher Columbus discovered America. The Obverse of the coin depicts Columbus himself. This was bought from the UK's Royal Mint and is declared as being in 'Very Fine' condition.
I am also waiting on another USA Silver Half-Dollar coin which was issued in 1964 commemorating President John F Kennedy, following his assasination on November 22nd the previous year.
