You are a dab hand with those brushes Suffolkboy, like Kerch I thought the pelargonium was very good. Read an article a little while ago that learning a new skill as one gets older is a good way of keeping the brain active and painting and drawing came out as the most profitable skill for retaining brain power; can't remember if I posted that article before on here...maybe it is time for me to get out the sketch pad and pencils ;) :)

Thanks Kerch and Mel. After I retired I began drawing and painting and quickly realized that it was a way for me to relax and be oblivious to life's daily problems/worries etc.I quickly realized that I had not appreciated the beauty of what is in this world and took for granted, until I sat and really looked at an object or scene to draw and paint did I understand what I had been missing. I liken it to looking at your macro photos as these depict the beauty of for example the butterflies or dragon flies which when they are in flight you never can really appreciate.I think the following piece I found describes what I am trying to say.

The Purpose of Art

It is in order to really see,to see ever deeper, ever more intensely, hence to be fully aware and alive, that I draw what the Chinese call 'The Ten Thousand Things" around me.

Drawing is the discipline by which I constantly rediscover the world.

I have learned that what I have not drawn,I have never really seen, and that when I start drawing an ordinary thing,I realize how extraordinary it is,sheer miracle.

Great pictures there - like all of them, SB. You don't really need a camera, do you? :D Image

I suppose there should be a booklet - "How to Navigate the Navigation System" SB.

The trouble with those SB is if you are by yourself you have to keep stopping to check your route.

Thanks Funky, good to have a go sometimes, only wish I had begun drawing and painting when I was a youngster, trouble was the sea, sand and fishing were more attractive at that time and of course then moved on to motor bikes and the opposite sex. Well that is my excuses for not starting earlier. :D

Do not see many of these Red Admirals butterflies these days even though we have 4 Buddleia bushes in our garden so had a go from a photo.
