Thought as this is going to be getting major coverage around the world and many different stories, a dedicated thread may be useful.

King Charles Coronation: What will he wear for the ceremony?

We know the date, the time, most of the guest list - and now we know the outfit. The heavy and priest-like golden robes King Charles III will wear for his Coronation have been revealed. During the service, the King will put on layer upon layer of glittering vestments, some of which were created for his great-grandfather George V. Prince William will help during the service by placing a ceremonial robe on his father.

For the crowning, King Charles will be given a long shimmering gold-sleeved coat to wear called the Supertunica. The robe was created for George V in 1911 and has been worn at successive coronations including by the late Queen Elizabeth II. It weighs about 2kg (4.4lb), is made of cloth of gold - silk thread wrapped in thin pieces of gold or silver gilt metal - and is embroidered with stylised arabesques and floral motifs. Layered on top of the Supertunica, there will be a floor-length cloak called the Imperial Mantle, or Robe Royal, which was made for George IV in 1821 - it weighs 3-4kg (6.6-8.8lb).

The mantle, which fastens across the chest with a golden eagle clasp, is inspired by ancient coronation ensembles and its priest-like style is meant to symbolise the divine nature of kingship. Made of cloth of gold, it is embellished with motifs including fleur-de-lis, as well as imperial eagles, and national floral emblems of red-pink roses, blue thistles and green shamrocks.

King's Coronation: Woman recalls 'special day' Queen was crowned

As millions of people across the UK and beyond prepare to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, a woman has been remembering turning out for the same ceremony for his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. Sarah Russell, 85, of Plymouth, went to London in 1953 with her mother and sister to watch the event, saying "it was a special day". She is looking forward to Saturday's coronation and still has clear memories of the time she, aged 15, and her family set off "very early" on a train to the capital. "When we got there, all the posters were telling us that Hillary and Tenzing [Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay] had conquered Everest," she said. "Somehow, right from the beginning, it was a special day; it somehow just set the scene."

On first seeing the Queen's procession at Hyde Park, her sister managed to get to the front of the crowd "because she was shorter". She said: "And then it started to rain and a soldier lent her his cape. "The big crescendo was when we knew the Queen was coming in her coach. There was terrific support. Later on, when we went to see them on the balcony [at Buckingham Palace], the crowds were everywhere and there was jubilation and there were flags."

King Charles coronation: Royal Navy veteran, 104, ready to celebrate

A 104-year-old Royal Navy veteran is preparing to celebrate his third coronation ahead of King Charles III's on Saturday. Capt Bryan Bouchard, of Amesbury, Wiltshire, has lived during the reign of five monarchs and was at Elizabeth II's review of the fleet in 1953. He fought in the Battle of France in 1940 and hunted German U-boats. Asked how he felt serving king and country, he said: "I was very proud of it and they looked after me very well." He also commended King Charles III for making "a splendid start" to his reign.

Capt Bouchard, born in 1919, said he would have a marquee in his garden and a big screen for the coronation on 6 May. Speaking to BBC Radio Wiltshire, he said: "We do celebrations like that very well here." He was serving in the military during Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953 and was present when she carried out a review of the Royal Navy's fleet in Portsmouth shortly afterwards. "It was a splendid thing, and, of course, the Victoria and Albert Yacht [which carried the Queen] came by."

Here is a photo I have which was taken on Coronation Day - June 2nd 1953.

It is of the street party which was arranged in our street in Liverpool. I wonder if anyone can guess which one is me? :D

Little did I know then, that exactly 20 years later 'to the day' I would become a dad for the second time. :o

Coronation procession route, what to look out for and when

Thousands of people are expected to line the streets hoping to catch a glimpse of King Charles III as he travels between Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey before and after his coronation on 6 May. Soldiers and royal footmen, marching bands and ornate coaches, magnificent horses and an Irish wolfhound called Seamus will all be taking part in the UK military's largest ceremonial operation for 70 years - and it will all end with a spectacular fly-past. Here is what to look out for.

10.20am - King's Procession to Westminster Abbey
The day will begin at 10:20 BST with the relatively modest King's Procession - the first of two processions on Saturday - in which the King and Queen Consort Camilla will travel from Buckingham Palace to the Great West Door of Westminster Abbey. They will travel in the horse-drawn Diamond Jubilee State Coach, created in 2012 to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's 60th year on the throne.

11.00am - The 200-strong procession is expected to arrive at the abbey at 11:00 for the service.

1.00pm - Coronation Procession to Buckingham Palace
After the ceremony, in the second procession of the day, the King and Queen Consort will travel back to the palace in the ornate Gold State Coach as part of the Coronation Procession - a much larger ceremonial display than the morning's procession. In a coronation first, all those marching will form up in the palace gardens where they will give a Royal Salute and three cheers to the King and Queen Consort. The King and other members of the Royal Family will then proceed to the front balcony of Buckingham Palace to greet the public crowds assembled in The Mall.

2.30pm - Palace fly-past
They will then move to the palace balcony, with other family members for a fly-past at about 14:30 BST.
