New to growing your own

Post by Dpeanut » Tue Feb 14, 2017 12:47 pm

Hi I have a section at the end of my garden that I can easily start growing my own . I started just with some rhubarb plants my dad gave me and a couple of gooseberry bushes and I have just seeded a couple of peppers and placed the seeds in seeding pots. My daughter wants to make me a better area so has obtained some wood donated by friends ....I think she is going to make large cube pots and fill with dirt so I don't have to bend all the time. This is my mother's day gift bless her. We really don't know what is easy to grow and I just love growing things from your own seeds etc . Any ideas out there as I'm sure we have to start soon with some items . Kind regards and happy gardening .....oh I have my water butt and a composted and a large tin to burn rubbish ......I'm loving it !

Thankyou I have mint in a pot so it doesn't become a weed . All great advice . She's come home with a crate and some wood and an old bike wheel . I have no idea what's she's doing as I'm not allowed . She's collecting unwanted items that she can recycle in the plot to make it look good . I'm so pleased really as she travels a lot and she's home for a few months before her job takes her elsewhere . It will be looked after and make me smile when I think of all the work she is putting into this . Thanks funky chick x

Hi Peanut. every success to you with your gardening, please excuse me when you say you will fill you containers with (dirt) better fill them with compost or good old garden soil with plenty of peat and some pea shingle or grit for drainage and all will be well.
Nice to speak to you..
