What a shame Funkychick but if it has to be done it has to be done; make sure you check there are no koalas up the tree before it is cut down ;) :)

You have got me thinking about some of our trees which seem to have taken over our garden. Me thinks I best begin saving up.

It is nice to have the shade of our maple trees but keeping them pruned is very costly.Having a tree cut down is very expensive.

We have had this plant in our front garden for more years than I can remember and never knew (remembered?) the name.
I have just identified it as a member of the Primula family and it is called "Dotted Loosestrife" (Lysimachia punctata).
It grows to about 30 to 36 inches has a spread of about 36 inches and dies right back every year.

When I took this picture of the Campanula, I never spotted the fly in one of the flowers until I had the picture on the computer.

I bet it would have flown off had I seen it and tried to take it from further in. :D

Never seen that plant before BB,looks good although I have enough plants that need cutting down each Autumn so will not be introducing one into our garden. Like your rose photos, sadly the recent heavy rain has spoilt many of ours.

It always looks nice when in full flower, SB but is not quite there yet. It's not a lot of work once it has died back.
Yes, the rain has played havoc with a couple of my roses, particularly the more-advanced blooms but most aren't too bad at the moment.
