Having had this procedure carried out on each eye in little more than three weeks, as I have mentioned elsewhere on the forum, I have to say that the improvement to my eyesight is, for want of an even better word, 'amazing'. The second procedure was carried out just yesterday by the same Consultant Ophthalmologist who carried out the first - Mr T Butler - and his team at the JPUH, and to whom I am extremely grateful. It was stunning to go out today in the sunshine and see everything in a new light.
There are many videos on YouTube showing these procedures but I thought I would post this one as I can relate to more or less everything that is shown in it, particularly from the procedure yesterday, as after the first one I knew more or less what to expect and so was more aware of what was happening.

Re: Cataract Eye Surgery
Thank you for posting this. I have a very complex eye condition which I have had for nearly two years and due to this have now got a very aggressive cataract which i have had for a while now.
I am under Moorfield's in London as Jph damaged my eye and messed it up that's why I am in the position I am now in.
JPh actually referred me there as I needed an eye op and they said they couldn't do it but they could have done.
When i first went to Moorfield's my eye pressure was so high and my notes were a mess to the point of the professor there couldn't understand them.
So now i am waiting for the op to be done which hopefully will be in September as long as my eye stays settles.
The procedure will be a bit different to normal due to the fact i have a shunt in my eye and optic nerve damage due to JPH
but i am still hoping i will have some sort of eye sight when it is done.

Re: Cataract Eye Surgery
I'm sorry to read about your eye condition, Kerry, and hope everything works out well for you by and in September. That sounds like an awful experience you have been through. My son-in-law, who is almost 60 has been undergoing a lot of treatment at JPH to restore the sight in one of his eyes of which he had lost something like 95% of about 40 years ago when he was hit in the face with a block of wood by somebody. Nothing was done about it at the time, apparently, and it was a few years before we knew him. Maybe the doctors then (in Manchester) had no treatment they could offer. I don't know when the current treatment started at JPH but it was only within about the last 8 to 10 years and I have lost count of the number of procedures he has been through, and still is, but his sight in that eye is unlikely to get much better than about 20%, I would think.
Anyway, once again, I hope everything goes well for you in the coming months.
