Save the Norwich Mind mental health support line

Post by boatbuilder » Mon Feb 22, 2016 11:02 am

The Norwich Mind helpline was set up 12 months ago to relieve the pressure on over-stretched mental health crisis teams. Initially set up as a pilot and funded by Norfolk's Clinical Commissioning Groups, it nearly closed in 2015 when the CCGs funding ran out. The Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust stepped in and agreed to provide cash to keep it going until March 31, 2016. That money is soon coming to an end and neither the CCGs or the trust is willing to continue to provide funding.

That is pretty much what the current Mrs H does. Unfortunately due to cuts the crisis team are not always able to respond as they would like to. When somebody is suicidal and needs to be sectioned it requires two GP's and a person from the crisis team who is on rota, recently they haven't been able to attend because of lack of secure accommodation to accommodate the sectioned person so that person has had to remain in the community at their time of greatest need. Crap isn't it?
It's grim up North...
