Live Webcam - Storks and Chicks

Post by boatbuilder » Wed May 28, 2014 4:46 pm

I don't know how long this will be viewable but I found this live webcam on Webbkameror.se of storks and chicks.

http://webbkameror.se/djurkameror/stork/index.php

Here is a still frame from it. The second image is a translation of the text, which is in Swedish, alongside the image on the webpage.

Apparently stork chicks fledge between 58 and 64 days (according to Wikipedia) so this webcam image may be available until early/mid July.

I'll take a look at that now and again. I've also enjoyed looking at the nightingale web cam on BBC2's Springwatch, I've not seen a Nightingale's nest before.
It's grim up North...

I have also been watching the Springwatch, Frankie. The webcams on there are live 24/7 on Freeview 301.

Just been looking at the storks and the chicks are looking lively today.

The five Stork chicks seem to be coming along just fine when you compare the image below to the image at the top of the page..

This image will be different each time this page is loaded or refreshed although you won't see anything when it gets dark. :D

Image no longer available as it was a live feed.

The young storks in Skåne are really growing now. Although this can be seen in the ever changing image in the previous post, here is a still for the record. They are now starting to go away from the nest, I noticed earlier.

Last year I posted the above link to a Stork nest.

This year I have come across these two links from the same souce.

The first is of an Osprey Nest in Kristianstad:
Osprey.jpg
OSPREY NEST WEBCAM

The text alongside the webcam translates (according to google) as "In cooperation with the Municipality of Kristianstad.
In Hammarsjön, in the wetlands south of Kristianstad, hedges currently an osprey which we are happy to comply with the webcam. The couple nesting on a platform that was built in the spring of 2012. In the wetlands nest annually several osprey couples. The first known nesting pair of ospreys in wetlands was recorded in 1996. The Osprey is a raptor that we can see quite easily, such as when the fish."

The second is of an 'Ocean tank' in Gothenburg:

OCEAN TANK WEBCAM

The relevant part of the text alongside the webcam translates as follows: "In collaboration with Universeum in Gothenburg.

In Universeum's giant Ocean Tank live sharks of five different species, as well as a sawfish and also a lot of smaller fish."

I carried on watching the Osprey webcam above and thought I noticed a broken egg underneath the adult. A short time later I saw this chick (just left of centre in picture). Not sure if it had emerged from what I think was the egg or if there is another one hatching.

I just checked out this webcam again after three years and there is a new family of stork chicks in the nest.
