If East Suffolk Council (or the council where YOU live) decided to try this out, would you be happy go along with it? Any thoughts on the issue?
There's a city that sends no domestic rubbish to landfill. But part of its success involves asking residents to sort their rubbish into seven different brightly coloured bags.

Re: Would you sort your rubbish into seven different bags?
I think it's a perfectly good idea but getting people to use seven different bags may be difficult. We have three recycling wheelie bins, outside obviously, but where seven bags would go I don't know. They would have to go in some sort of container/containers if they were kept outside and I can't imagine anyone wanting to keep them indoors, they are still rubbish even if they are recycled.boatbuilder wrote:If East Suffolk Council (or the council where YOU live) decided to try this out, would you be happy go along with it? If it were not for Thomas Edison, we would all be watching television in the dark.

Looking at the video, all the bags seem to be together when collected and are sorted by scanners at the recycling depot. That would mean they all go into the one bin for collection. However, the bags would have to be fastened and fairly strong to withstand the handling otherwise they would all split and get mixed up.

I just wonder whether people would want seven recycling bags indoors, the video shows them stowed in a kitchen cupboard. We wash all our recycled bottles, jars, cans, etc but where to keep them all between collections is a problem.

I guess you would put them in those individual bins in a cupboard, if you have that space to house them of course - and as each bag becomes full, transfer the tied-up bag to the 'wheelie-bin' outside. Ideally, you would need a can-crusher if you use a lot of cans to save space.
How about this one?

At £467.00 I think I'll give it a miss.
