Both 'Royals' are from Russell Walker/Facebook.

1/ 'The Royal Hotel, Lowestoft. c.1960. Levelled in 1973 and is where the East Point Pavilion stands for now.'

2/ 'Royal Plain with the Bus Shelter (now at EATM), Royal Norfolk & Suffolk Yacht Club, War Memorial, Yacht Basin, South Pier + Pavilion and Northern Extension in the distant background. Late 1940s/early 1950s.'

I'm puzzled by your comment, kerch. If the hotel wasn't demolished until 1973, why couldn't the picture be from circa 1960? What makes you say the picture is older?

I just found this link, kerch, with a picture of the hotel dated 1954 and that building was present then. Of course Dave's post does say 'c 1960' so it may have been a few years either way.

1954 sounds more likely .In the sixties the building was looking worse for wear ,can't say if it was still taken paying guests then.

'The Esplanade Lowestoft' comes from eBid and 'View Looking down to Jubilee Prom (1920/30s)' is from Rob Whybrow/Facebook.

Robert Whybrow/Facebook supplies us with a 'different' view of the beach. 'View very old photo showing the beach which used to be in front of the old coastguard station (now SLP) down the north seawall.'

The next two images of the Esplanade come from '67 Not Out' and there is a nice story that goes with them.

I thought it would be a bit of a different image to post. I can't remember how I found the article, probably a bit of luck whilst looking for something else. :D

It's surprising what you find when you're looking for something else. Unfortunately I've never come across a large sum of money that way. :(

Have you tried down the back of the sofa, boatbuilder, I once found £500 but the bank wouldn't accept it, can't think why not.
