That is a great story Dave, well found
Thanks, Mel, there are other 'coincidence' stories on the site, it was just a lucky find.

1/ Photo and information from Russell Walker/Facebook.
'Children's Corner, South Pier + Reading Room, and the two Harbour Pier Heads at Lowestoft. The current South Pier dates from 1846 and a Reading Room was added in 1853-54 and a Bandstand jetty in 1884. The Bandstand and Reading Room were destroyed by fire in 1885. Taken from a Stereoscopic photo.'

1/ The Grand Hotel, off Pakefield Road, Lowestoft, on Kirkley Cliffs. Late 1930s, I think. In 1955, MAFF (Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries & Food) moved in and have occupied the site ever since (the buildings being locally called "The Fishlabs"), later being re-named CEFAS (Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science). The building was mostly, if not totally, demolished in late 2017 and 2018 for a purpose-built facility for CEFAS. To the right is Cliff House, the home of the Tuttle family, which later became a pub called The Cliff Bar (AKA the American Bar), being demolished around 1966. (Thanks to Russell Walker/Facebook.)

2/ Royal Hotel, St. John’s Church & Yacht Club. (eBay.)
