The new Home Bargains store at the North Quay Retail Park, Lowestoft opens on Saturday, March 4.

We've just had a 3rd store open near here (one in Lancaster and two in Morecambe) and it is a really big one. I popped down there to take a look last Sunday but it was so busy that I couldn't park in the car park and it took me 15 mins to get out of it again. I'll take another look this weekend. I like Home Bargains, they are laid out nicely like a proper shop and do have some really good bargains but as a lot of them are one-offs you need to buy it when you see it as it will be gone next week never to be seen again. Some really good food bargains there, i got a really nice joint of gammon for a couple of quid. nothing like the pound shops.
It's grim up North...

I went in the new Lidls yesterday and was pleasantly surprised, big improvement on the old one. We're spoilt for choice now at North Quay, not much i can't get up there. Home bargains opens today, and if it's as good as the Gorleston store it'll be fine. One negative the TK Max is'nt a patch on the Gorleston store, suppose being smaller does'nt help.

The one negative I find with the new stores opening is that the car parks, at North Quay and Lidls, are not big enough.

Oh well, time to get on my bike.

I'm sure it will be chaos up there today so I certainly won't be venturing to either of them.

The Argos in Homebase is closing down tonight , don't know if you knew that .....as they are no longer part of the same company . They may be opening in the Zephyr cams site when it eventually gets built .

I had heard that it was, so that makes it two of the three in Lowestoft now closed down. That one was handy as it saved having to go north of the bridge or through Oulton Broad, which at the moment requires a detour.

Well I ve not used Argos nearly so much since the town centre one closed so guess my Argos days are over now as the other one is just too hard to get to if you haven't a car
Amazon unfortunately will gain which is a shame as I d much rather visit a shop

Same, I would rather flick through their book than search through the pages online.

In the main, it isn't FC. I think somethings might be from time to time as I seem to recall having seen this mentioned in emails I have had from them.

But even if there's a delivery charge from Argos, you're not using petrol or maybe paying bus fares or paying parking charges, so it sort of evens out, surely?

There aren't any parking charges at Argos North Quay in Lowestoft - at least there weren't the last time I went there. :D

No car so no petrol or parking for me and I have a bus pass so that's not saving me any money either ....but buses are few and far between down to the retail park which is where it becomes difficult for people who don't have a car Town was ideal but at least Homebase had a number of regular buses going past so as I say Argos is probably now off a number of people's radar

There's always the option of a bicycle. Easy to cycle to Argos, cycle path goes much of the way there.

Would be a bit difficult to carry a TV or some other large item on a bike.

Then again it would also be the same by bus or on foot. Only suitable for smallish items.
