My sister-in-law stayed at the Winelodge a few years ago and she had no complaints. Her room was comfortable and the breakfasts were good and the staff were friendly...just what you want in a B&B 8-)

Things are now happening with the re-development of the old Wessex Foods site on the South Lowestoft Industrial Estate.

I noticed last week some activity taking place and today this now seems to be well underway. The details below are dated February, but it would seem that this has now passed through the application stage for this to be happening.

Development of Wessex Food site into Phoenix Enterprise Park of 16 commercial units

An application has been submitted to transform the former Wessex Foods site on South Lowestoft Industrial Estate, which was destroyed by a fire in 2010, into the Phoenix Enterprise Park. The park will provide 16 small units with external car parking and landscaping for B1 (Business), B2 (General industrial) and B8 (Storage or distribution) use.
The Hadenham Road site is included in the Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft Enterprise Zone and is owned by the county council in partnership with New Anglia LEP.

The former Mothercare in the Britten Centre has been let and utopia will be shutting its doors to make way for the new retailer

Greenwoods, the mens outfitters on the corner of the Britten Centre , Lowestoft has gone into liquidation according to the notice in their window this morning . I assume this would include their shop in Great Yarmouth as well .

QD Stores coming back to Lowestoft with new store in Commercial Road

Discount retailer QD Stores is returning to Lowestoft, with the opening of a new store on the town’s Commercial Road, creating 20 new jobs.
The official opening of the 10,000 sq ft store will take place on Wednesday, November 1, when the deputy mayor of Lowestoft, Cllr Peter Knight, will cut the ceremonial ribbon at 9am to mark the start of trading.
Three staff are moving from elsewhere in the QD Group, three former employees have been recruited to re-join the business while QD has been actively recruiting a further 14 new local staff to join the team in a variety of positions.
Sited on Commercial Road, close to the railway station, the store will occupy the former Poundland premises and includes 120 car parking spaces.
Nick Rubins, QD Stores Group CEO, said: “We are delighted to be coming back to Lowestoft. We were bitterly disappointed to have to close our previous store on London Road North last year, having had stores in the town since 1989, and have been seeking a suitable new property ever since.
