Australian Tree Fern (Dicksonia Antarctica)
This is the latest addition to the garden (well the patio actually). I bought this from a supplier in Spalding and it arrived yesterday so spent part of this morning preparing and planting it. It doesn't look much at the moment but it should look like the one in the link below in time (fingers crossed). The second picture is one of the new shoots which should develop into a fern. I will post updates as it grows, but could be many years.

Re: Australian Tree Fern (Dicksonia Antarctica)
So am I SB, It is suppose to take 20 to 50 years to grow to its maximum height/spread of up to 4 metres, but I doubt I'll be around, particularly if it's the latter of the two.
Do you mean the second picture of the first post SB? If not then you must be one of the strangest looking person's I know if you are referring to the second one in the second post.

Re: Australian Tree Fern (Dicksonia Antarctica)
BB,you will have to watch the cats don't water that fern or they may curl up even more.
Talking about cats,I found the neighbour's cat this morning on the way back from walking the dog laying dead on the pavement apparently hit by a vehicle. Sadly I was the bearer of the bad news and of course the little girl and her Mum were very upset. Unfortunately this was the second cat they have had killed on the road in two years.

Re: Australian Tree Fern (Dicksonia Antarctica)
Well they are in the process of 'uncurling' SB, and they had better carry on like that. We don't get many cats in the garden. I think the spirit of our Bramble who is buried in the garden keeps them out.
A pity about your neighbours cat. Very upsetting, especially for a child.

Re: Australian Tree Fern (Dicksonia Antarctica)
The three ferns on the plant have now slowed down their growth but I noticed this morning that there are two new shoots developing at the base of the plant.
