I went back to Carnforth station for 17:20 when it was supposed to be returning to swap locos before heading back down to Manchester from whence it came. It reminded me of when I was a small child, I used to spend every Saturday at my grandmother's at the top of Kirkley Run and at midday my sister and I would run to the crossing gates opposite the Lord Nelson at the top of The run and wait for the steam-hauled goods train to come puffing up from the Kirkley goods yard. My heart used to pound as I could hear it coming but couldn't see it. I'm 63 now and I had exactly the same feeling as the Leander approached Carnforth in the dark at the same speed that the goods train used to come up the line from The Fen. For those into trains there is a type 37 on the back which is required to push it up the incline to Shap and to hold it back on the return. The most recent Covid-19 statistics available for East Suffolk to April 17th 2024 are here - eastsuffolkcovid19.uk

Very cute indeed but..... call me an old sceptic if you like, I'm always a bit suspicious of these "spontaneous" videos taken with the help of a conveniently placed camera crew.

Re: Interesting video clips on YouTube
I took a 2-second clip of Freddie this afternoon in 40x slow-motion - plays for about 82 seconds.

BB: Thanks for posting – enjoyed that!boatbuilder wrote:I took a 2-second clip of Freddie this afternoon in 40x slow-motion - plays for about 82 seconds.
Very interesting to watch Freddie doing “what comes naturally” to members of the Cat family when watching and preparing to creep up on the prey whether real - or imaginary! And interesting to see how his body seemingly stretches when going into “stealth” mode – and then (at about 45 seconds) when his body begins to contract – as he prepares for the attack! Very interesting 'slo mo' video!

Re: Interesting video clips on YouTube
But . . . even if it was "just a leaf blowing around" Freddie obviously realised it could be a 'dangerous leaf' with evil intent! Probably just as well the leaf did blow away!boatbuilder wrote:Thanks Trigger. although I can't remember what he was going after. probably just a leaf blowing around.

Re: Interesting video clips on YouTube
If anybody is interested in the history of Benacre Broad, I have just posted a video interview carried out between my dad and the Lowestoft Cine Club whose Phoenix Group have been compiling videos of memories of local heritage which may be lost as our elderly residents pass away. A lot of this was news to me and may interest you if you visit that area of our coast. My dad died not long after this interview.
Thanks to Ron Rushmere for his permission to post it online.
