They are mainly 'Proof' coins FC, although some are 'Brilliant Uncirculated' as in the last two posts. The pictures in this and the next post are proof ones which I also received last week in the 2017 coin set. The pictures aren't exceptional as I took them late last night, camera hand held and with slow shutter speeds of between 1/13th and 1/25th of a second with the only light being from a 10W LED bulb in a lamp behind me. ISO's were about 5,000 to 6,400 and apertures around f/5. What appear to be marks are likely to be tiny particles on the outside of the sealed case they are in or reflections of myself.:D

Another three of the special edition coins. The remaining seven coins in the 13 coin 2017 set are the same standard designs as last year's 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p & £2 coins.

I have a number of very old pennies, several dating from George 1V ( I think that's right, the one before Queen Victoria ) they are really heavy.
and before the change to decimal currency, I started collecting the old silver coins, that had a high silver content, I think they were pre 1940.

Incidentally Morty, I always thought that a Joey was a silver threepenny piece.

Tigger, our saying was, 'Up in Annie's room, behind the clock' my Grandma always said this, whenever we asked her where anything was.

A joey was a silver sixpence wasn't it
I ve got some of those big fat old pennies (well a couple) too
I don't collect coins but have quite a few old ones but not mint ones I ve also got some old international notes some tiny some really big I don't know what to do with them as I don't really want them but there might be one worth a fortune tucked away in there

I think that a "joey" was a silver threepenny bit. A sixpence was a tanner.

Funkychick and Meryl, the 'joey' was discussed in some detail on the first two pages of this topic. It was the 3d bit.

I was sortingout a cupboard today when I came across a small cash box which contained a load of coins I had accumulated over the years from my travels (first picture). I later decided to tip them out (second picture) and then sorted through them to see which countries they were from (third picture). All the EU ones were pre-Euro days as were a couple of coins which were pre-Germany unification. However, there were also two coins from countries I have never visited - Finland and the United Arab Emirates - so I guess they must have been given in change somewhere. There was also a UK 1941 12-sided 3d piece and one of the large original 10p coins.

The first picture below is of the £5 coin issued to commemorate the 5th birthday in 2018 of HRH Prince George, aptly using 'St. George and the Dragon'.
The second is not a coin but is of the same size as the £2 coins and is the 2018 Royal Mint United Kingdom Premium Medal and forms part of the set. There is an inscription in the centre portion of the medal which lists the details of all the commemorative coins in the collection but unfortunately is difficult to read on this image, even at full resolution.

The latest addition to my collection, which arrived this morning, is this Silver Brilliant Uncirculated 1p coin which was released two days ago on 23rd April to commemorate the birth on that day of the yet-to-be-named, at the time of this post, Royal Prince.
