General Chat Topic
I have decided to change the name of the monthly chat topic to this and will no longer be 'renewing' it on a monthly basis.
With the summer now well behind us, I think, now is the time to start thinking of that time of the year nobody seems to want to talk about until December - or is it? The last Monday in October will see the Chancellor of the Exchequer deliver his budget for the next year. I wonder why he has decided to make it a Monday this year instead of the Wednesday? Maybe he doesn't want the people to receive two frights in one day on Hallowe'en!

What if your host put one of these crackers alongside your place setting for Christmas Dinner?

Re: General Chat Topic
Had a call earlier from 08456021111 – heard a bit of the message saying it was message from BT SMS Text Service – from an ‘unknown’ (withheld?) number. I didn't dial any of the given choices. Entered it in “Who called me?” and it is a genuine call! Interestingly, my landline phone does accept SMS messages. Apparently, if you don’t take the call, it calls you back every hour!
The call was from Boots to remind that I’m booked in for a flu jab tomorrow. Earlier today I had an email from them with the same message! But I had put it into my Windows 10 Calendar yesterday and it sent me a reminder this morning, and there’ll be another reminder tomorrow! Technology!

Re: General Chat Topic
I'm querying your reply to my PM which I assume you meant was a PM on here (not an email). If you say you sent one (a PM) then it should be either in your 'Sent items' - if I have read it - which I haven't, or in your 'Outbox' if I haven't accessed it -which I also haven't. If neither, then it looks like you never clicked 'Send' and it's gone into cyberspace.

I would just like to give the driver of a Border bus a pat on the back. Yesterday travelling to Norwich on a First bus we broke down on the A146, and without being asked the driver of the Border bus stopped his vehicle and took all the passengers travelling to Norwich on his bus. So well done that man

I ordered the 'Countryfile' 2019 calendar on Sunday after they had announced the results on the program. I was surprised when it arrived in today's post. I think this years winning picture which was both the viewers' and the judges' choice is a worthy winner' It is entitled 'Pole Position' and was taken in East Budleigh, Devon by David White. This is the image on the cover which also graces the month of May.
